In this attack, the hacker targets an organization. The hacker then tries to find out the flaws of those websites. When a hacker finds a bug in a website, he injects some malware into the website and leaves. Then when one or more employees of that organization enter there they start to have that malware effect on their or their devices. As a result, the hacker takes out all the necessary information from their device.

When a group of deer go to a pond or water body in the forest to drink water and then the lions hiding there chase the deer and hunt them down. Here the hacker hides just like a lion and waits for his victim. From here, the name of this attack is waterhole attack.
